Senior Support Technician

Position Description:
The Enterprise Server Operations Center within the office of Information Resource Management (IRM/OPS/SIO/ESOC) is seeking a Level 2 System Administrator who will serve as a Tier 2 Operations and Maintenance Subject Matter Expert and occasional liaison to Department of State's Information Resource Management (IRM) Enterprise Network Management Operations Center (ENMOC), Global IT Modernization (GITM), and other Tier 3 organizations when attempting to resolve customer IT System issues.
The Senior Support Technician is responsible for maintaining the Enterprise Server Operations Center Data Center services and infrastructure as well as remotely assist Overseas Post staff with troubleshooting and maintaining system infrastructure.
Perform routine Data Center monitoring
Manage storage system tiers
Perform onsite Level 2 "Break/Fix" support for Enterprise storage resources
Respond to and resolve Enterprise Level 2 incidents and outages
Provide assistance to inquiries on the features, functions, and usage of Area-specific services and systems
Support on-call rotation for after hour support
Provide Knowledge Base updates and create SOPs and other technical documentation
Participate in after-hours Data Center maintenance and upgrades
Identify and implement improvements to operational capabilities
Provide client-facing support/representation/escalation
Rack and cable Data Center equipment
Resolve high level technical issues relative to the proper configuration and operation of systems and equipment.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Education and Certifications
o Microsoft Certified IT Professional Certification
o Network+
o VMWare Certification
o ITIL v3 Foundations
Knowledge and Experience
Preferred Experience
o Install, configure, update, and administer VMware ESX 4.x and 5.x virtualized servers
o Configure and manage ESXi, VSphere, VCenter, and VMotion for customer systems
o Support, resolve, and/or escalate issues of domestic physical and VM systems within an OpenNet, ClassNet, DMZ, and SIPRNet environment.
o Experience with Tivoli backup and restoration procedures
o Experience with system monitoring (e.g.,NetIQ AppManager Suite, SolarWinds)
Required Experience
o Ability to terminate and install CAT6 and fiber optic cabling within a Data Center environment
o Ability to perform under stressful situations.
o Understanding of cabling and physical infrastructure of a Data Center environment
o Experience/knowledge of Data Center Operations best practices
o Ability to install a variety of Data Center equipment, i.e. servers, storage arrays, network equipment etc.
o Ability to perform systems checks, maintains logs, generate reports, and produce documentation
o Excellent logical system troubleshooting and issue resolution
o Very strong verbal and written communications skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
